BII is an international commercial foundation with a non-profit objective supported by the Novo Nordisk Foundation. They support world-class life science innovation that drives development of new solutions by early life science startups for the benefit of people and society.
At BII, they are excited to support the development of promising business ideas:
“Skylab provides a strong innovative and entrepreneurial environment at DTU. At BII, we are committed to support the further development of the life science ecosystem and especially those great initiatives that aim at bringing ideas to life and research to market to benefit both planetary and human health” says Christian Brix Tillegreen, Venture Lab Lead at BII.
The first grants have already been awarded to four DTU startups: Meat Tomorrow, Alcolase, Uvisa Health and OOfie. For Meat Tomorrow, who is working to develop cultivated meat to help combat environmental effects of traditional livestock farming, the grant is of great importance:
"The grant from BII and DTU Skylab allows us to move closer to securing our IP. It is also an essential stamp of approval from a leading biotech incubator”, says co-founder and Head of Engineering in Meat Tomorrow, David Valbjørn.
Mikkel Sørensen, Managing Director of Skylab has great expectations for the collaboration with BII;
“We see students as a driving force of innovation, and as such, we are beyond happy that the BII futures grants will now allow us to support even more student entrepreneurs working within food tech and life science as we see a great unrealized potential within these areas”
The collaboration runs for two years and will award 16 grants of DKK 50.000 to promising life science and food tech entrepreneurs.
The next grant application deadline is 11th of September 2022. Read more and apply via Skylab’s website: https://www.skylab.dtu.dk/resources-for-start-ups/Skylab-Funding
