CATALY(C)ST

What is the purpose of the initiative?

The CATALY(C)ST project mixes new ways of making and developing in community led peer-to-peer co-creation closely integrated with classic applied research approaches. Bringing best practice from the research world, the maker communities, the youth movements and industry into one strong initiative.

CATALY(C)ST overall mantra is decoupling value creation from resource consumption, by:

  • CE readiness & opportunity mapping
  • CE Business models creation & servitization,
  • CE products by Eco-design,
  • CE enhancement by digitalization
  • CE close the loop strategies

*The five areas origins from the CIRCit research project, which has operations in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Iceland and Finland, to support the Nordic industry to discover the opportunities of circular economy. Link: http://circitnord.com/

DTU Skylab offers

  • Accelerating Nordic companies' transition to a sustainable circular economy. We engage students and manufacturing companies using a collaborative approach for CE development projects. Coupled with resources from world-class researchers and mentor experts, Nordic innovation the Nordic companies will speed up their CE transition.
    • Lunch Talks, Innovation Sprint and Boot Camps
    • Supervision of student projects and support exiting CE projects

  • Impactful minds of tomorrow for circular economy champions and innovations. We focus on competency and experience building of the youth and the industry champions within existing companies to become change makers.

    • Development of CE Acceleration KIT

  • Mobilizing a Nordic change community for Circular Economy
    We build one unified Nordic youth community in alignment within already existing communities.
    • Youth led conference aimed at virtual knowledge sharing

    We bring expert knowledge to companies’ CE-development projects.

Who is involved?

CATALY(C)ST will apply the collective experience, competencies, research, company & talent network from excellent research and entrepreneurship institutions- with the main project partners being Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) , KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Aalto Design Factory and EFLA Consulting Engineers.

How long does the project run

CATALY(C)ST project runs over a period of 2 years from December 2020 until December 2022.

Nordic Sustainable Business Transformation

The context for CATALY(C)ST is to initiate the establishment of Nordic innovation projects, new Nordic partnerships, value chains and/or business models in the field of Nordic Sustainable Business Transformation – Circular Cities and New Circular Solutions.

Nordic Innovation aims to accelerate the transition to a circular economy in the Nordic countries and further develop the Nordics as agile frontrunners within the circular economy.

Furthermore, we are working concretely to help to achieve the Nordic Prime Ministers’ vision of making the Nordic region the most sustainable, integrated region in the world by 2030.

Nordic Innovation aims to make the Nordics a pioneering region for sustainable growth and works to promote entrepreneurship, innovation and competitiveness in Nordic business.
